NYC Day 3
A super quick update this morning. Yesterday was the first day of the BEA exhibit floor, and the first day that I took in any of the events. The floor opened at 9am, and can I just say wow. Completely overwhelming! There were crushes of people everywhere, pushing and shoving, yelling, and people just pushing books at you constantly. Very tiring. But also a great time!
I was really excited to get (among others):
- Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
- Torment by Lauren Kate
- The Passage by Justin Cronin
- Bamboo People by Mitali Perkins
- BookLust To Go by Nancy Pearl
- And way too many others to list or even remember.
I had also brought along my personal copies of Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr and Shadow Bound by Richelle Mead to get signed, so that was fun. It was a little bit shocked though when Melissa Marr said she knew my blog. Eecks, need to go verify the review I wrote of Radiant Shadows
Besides the books, and the bloggers and authors who I met, the panels were also quite interesting. I’m looking forward to more of them today.
Yesterday evening was the HarperCollins Book Blogger Appreciation Event which was a really great time. A lot of mingling with other bloggers, employees, and authors. It was great to put more faces to names. It was especially exciting to meet my twin, The Girl From the Ghetto!
Today, more of the same! And I promise I’ll try to remember to take more pictures today.

It’s incredible to me, I heard Amanda mention the free books and it must be really exciting to get to read these books as one of the first!
I can imagine that I’d feel both proud of the fact that an author knew my blog, but at the same time I’d want to go an double check my reviews to make sure they’re good enough to be seen by authors.
You and “the other Amy” both look very happy. I hope you have a great day today.
It is crazy, I had no idea there would be so many free books. It is hard to turn them down when they keep trying to hand them to you, but just way too many.
And thanks!
looks like your having fun amy ,and getting loads of books
Thanks Stu, I really am!
I knew earlier in the month when I decided I was to busy to go that I would regret missing BEA. Do you know if there is any video from the blogger convention or BEA?
BTW, if there is one, you should get the ‘best use of sticky posts’ award.

Hmmm… I’m not sure if there is any videos. I have seen people with video cameras, but have no idea where they have been posting. I’ll watch for that today though! And thanks
I hope you brought an extra suitcase!
I did
heh
Umm…totally jealous you got to see Nancy Pearl. There was a minor booth emergency at my company booth and I missed it…the one person I had decided I MUST SEE!
OH NO! That is horrible! The line was super long, I was quite early though and just waited around so luckily got a book (some at the end did not). I hope you can meet her another time instead.
It was interesting to read about your meeting with Melissa Marr
Nice to know that you had a wonderful time! I heard that the Javits center is so huge! Is that true?
Oh gosh Vishy, it was ridiculously huge! Covered, I think, around 3 city blocks, and you were constantly going from one end to the other to talk to someone, or get a book signed, or pick up a book. My feet are STILL sore!
Wow! That is something – 3 city blocks – I can’t believe it! It must be quite tough walking from one end of the center to another. But glad to know that you had a great time.
Yep, a lot of walking! You should try to go next year
Eep, I’d be shocked if Melissa Marr knew my blog too. I’m glad you had such a good time, Amy! I can’t wait to see more pictures and hear more about it.
Thanks Ana, I will hopefully post Friday’s recap later tonight. In the airport now on the last flight home, then straight out to a family BBQ for the day. Can’t wait to get some rest!
BTW thanks for reminding me to go verify what I wrote in my review of Radiant Shadows! I’m happy to see that while it was short, it was good
