Slave Lake Book Auction – Please check it out!
Please, please, whether you are Canadian or not, take a moment to check out the Slave Lake Book Auction!
I’ve talked a few times about my friend Colleen Mckie who blogs at Lavender Lines and at Colleen McKie (the first is book reviews, the second is about her writing). I mention her again here to bring up a fantastic thing that she has been doing. A community in Alberta called Slave Lake has recently suffered extreme wildfires and most of the town was burned. This included the fairly new library – everything was lost in the fire. Colleen has started a book auction to raise funds for the library to restock books, computers, and etc. For more information you can check out the frequently asked questions. CBC news has an interview with Colleen available as well (print and audio).
Enough introduction though – please go check out the auction and bid on an item or two or three or, well, you get the drift! There are some seriously awesome prizes listed. I’d have blogged about it earlier but I had to make sure I won the one I wanted first before spreading the news you know
Also, if you are an author, publisher, publicist, editor, blogger, etc who is willing to donate items to help out, please do contact Colleen. The information is all on the site.
