Secret Santa 2011
I got my first Secret Santa package in the mail today! I feel a bit behind as I have yet to mail mine out – but in my defense I only arrived home yesterday from my travels and I do have both parcels just about ready to mail and will be sending them tonight or tomorrow.
The first secret Santa package showed a return label as it being from “Santa of Secrets”! I love it
Inside the package included a wrapped parcel and two small gifts – and yes one of them is a ‘lump of coal’ (actually chocolate). So hilarious. I opened it (I know, I know, it’s not Christmas yet but I cheated) to find two books, a small notepad on which it reads ‘I MUSTACHE YOU A QUESTION’ (seriously, hilariously awesome), and the lump of coal.
The two books were: The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Japanese Wife by Kunal Basu. I am really excited as both of these are collections of short stories and I’ve recently discovered how much I really enjoy the short story form.
Included was a note saying that my Santa hoped I didn’t already have the Adichie collection – I do have a signed paperback, but this is a book that I try to push on everyone and since receiving the signed copy I had been scared to loan it out as much as I used to. NOW I can loan out this beautiful copy and hide my signed copy away for myself
(I’ve lost quite a few of the books I’ve loaned out, but I can’t help it! I love sharing the love!)
Thank you so much Santa!
Now, the tricky part is figuring out who my secret Santa is… I know it is a Canadian blogger, from Ontario, but that is all so far. Anyone have any tips for me?

tee hee hee…
OH I didn’t think to check the etsy tag… HI! Soo… do you have a book blog that my googling can’t find? Also, now I’m going to be ordering mustache booklets for birthdays from now until… well… you stop carrying them? LOL
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Love love love the gift.
OH, found
Yay
That was my sneaky little way of throwing in who I was.
I don’t have a dedicated book blog, but do talk books every Wednesday (or, well, that’s the plan I’m currently failing at…) on the blog I have on my portfolio/blog hybrid site: http://www.vicentinedesign.com
Glad you love the present! I was a little bit nervous putting it together.
Thanks for the link
Love it. Also, the gift was truly perfect. The coal was pretty awesome too. If you’re ever in the big city do let me know!
I would crack up every time I used that notepad!
It’s awesome Amanda. I already left a note on my roommate’s door and now can’t wait for her to come home… in… 6 hours. Sigh.
Oh, delicious. Anxious to know what The Japenese Wife is all about! Could the secret Santa be Buried In Print?
It was Victoria who commented above, Kinna, but yes, I wondered that at first too
Wrong city though! I’m really looking forward to the collection as well!
It looks like your Secret Santa did a great job!!
A great job yes Kathy

What fun! Your Santa seems very thoughtful… it’s like she read your mind, I mean, blog.
Why do I always discover these things when it’s too late?
LOL yes, my mind and blog seem to be in sync enough to know me well it seems Niranjana. Next year I’m going to have to try to remember to blog about them when they are available for signing up because it seems many missed out.
