Secret Santa 2011 Part 2
I participated in two book blogger holiday exchanges this year. I posted about my first parcel on December 5th and was super excited to get my second yesterday. What made the experience even more exciting is that Cass was my swap partner and how awesome is it when someone who knows you gets you a gift? Pretty darn awesome I think.
(It was addressed as being from my secret Santa but the return address was her work sooo… and also she told me to make sure I was home Monday – that also kinda gave it away!)
Here is the gift all prettily wrapped:
I ended up trying to work while wearing the little monster finger puppet all afternoon which worked less than ideally, but was way too enjoyable. I also tried to harass the cat with it but he didn’t care.
When I unwrapped it I found:
Yay! Four fantastic used books. I’ve read (but hadn’t been able to locate) Breath, Eyes, Memory by Edwidge Danticat (and so now am convinced that Cass can read my mind). The other three books are new and all sound great. They are:
- Putting Women on the Agenda edited by Susan Bazilli
- The Chelsea Whistle by Michelle Tea
- Women and War in South Africa by Jacklyn Cock
In addition there are some pretty book plates I’m going to have to go sticking on books, as well as worry dolls. The worry dolls are apparently a tradition of the Mayan people in Guatemala and I can tell my worries to them and then put them under my pillow and they should take them away. I intend to test them tonight so should know by the time you read this how well they work
Thank you Cass!

Aw, nice gift!
Thanks Colleen

They’re pretty cute zibilee, I’d never heard of them!
Gift exchanges are SO fun! I can see why those books might be chosen for you.

How fun!! I read Chelsea Whistle about…seven years ago and had an opportunity to attend a writing workshop with Michelle Tea — it was awesome. She’s awesome. Really amazing — a great read — I hope you enjoy it and the rest of your books!
